WHEN IS FATHER'S DAY THIS YEAR?

Most people often ask: “when is father’s day celebrated?”

Fathers’ day is celebrated every year on the 3rd Sunday of June (and Mother’s day on the 2nd Sunday of May!). Father’s day 2010 falls on Sunday June 20th.

Celebrating Father’s day

A lot of people put a lot more emphasis, value and hype around Mothers’ day than they do around Fathers’ day. Reasons for this vary but generally, people assume that dads don’t put much value on days like these themselves or most dads won’t even know it’s supposed to be their day.

As a nation, we must help fathers appreciate and find value in days like Father’s day that seek to honour their presence, involvement and contribution as fathers. This doesn’t mean go and spend more, but it means seek to connect with your father/dad, tell him how much he means to you, and how much you appreciate his hard work.
