What are the similarities between physical and emotional or mental abuse?

Mental abuse and emotional abuse are often overlooked because unlike physical abuse, they do not present with visual evidence. There are no visible physical scars, but the emotional scars tend to weigh more on a person than physical scars.

If only I could be more prettier,

If I could shed a few extra kilos,

If only I could get rid of the orange peel

Then maybe he will love me more

If only I could gain just the right amount

Gain just at the right places

Then maybe he will say to me

'You look beautiful my love'

If I could go under the knife of perfection,

Tighten here and there,

Take here, put there

Maybe he will say more ‘I love You’s’

If I could be a perfect house-keeper

Bear and Raise good kids

Perhaps more appreciation I’ll get

From the man I chose to be mine

Maybe he will want to hold me more,

Maybe he will get not enough of me

If I could but one more time

Try to present a perfect image

If only I could wake up from this dream

Expand my sight, awaken

To see I am already perfect

I deserve a hell of a lot better!

Who abuses women/men emotionally or mentally?

Some of the characteristics of emotional abusers include Low self-esteem, Fear and A history of physical abuse. Let me explain the latter--- most women batterers or men batterers who leave their (physically)abusive behaviour do unfortunately and unconsciously have a tendency to move into other areas/types of abuse. If a person does not get proper healing, they may merely seek a less visible abusive behaviour, leaving their victims to think that they had changed.

It is the same with cheaters. They say once a cheat, always a cheat. That will be the case if a person does not get healed from the disease – because abuse and cheating are both symptoms of some mental illness… whether it’s depression, anxiety or low self esteem ...

Act against abuse. Make a noise about mental abuse and emotional abuse because covered wounds do not heal well!
